Discipleship Training school (DTS)

About the school

The DTS is an intensive discipleship course which is to encourage students in personal character development, to deepen a living relationship with God and identifying their unique individual gifts and callings in God.

Cross-cultural exposure and global awareness are special emphases throughout the course which prepares the students to reach current and future generations and to answer the call to ”Go into all the world and disciple all nations.” (Matt. 28:19)

Every year, thousands of people do a DTS at various YWAM locations worldwide. Most say it has radically changed their lives and helped them to get to know God in a deep and personal way. We are very excited to invite you to this adventure with God!

Lecture Phase & Outreach
The DTS has two parts to it. The first one is a 3 month lecture phase and the second one is two months of outreach.

We will cover topics such as:
✴ Character of God
✴ Relationships
✴ Prayer and Intercession
✴ Hearing God’s voice
✴ Father's heart of God
✴ Evangelism
✴ Missions

After the lecture phase we go on outreach to put in practice what we have learned during the first twelve weeks. During this we get to experience God working in and through us.
At the moment we are still praying and asking God where to go on outreach. it will be announced.

University of the Nations Credits
The Discipleship Training School is an entry level school of Youth With A Mission, thus it is a requirement for further ministry or study within YWAM. It is the gateway into the University of the Nations’ seven faculties and various centres. The credits received on lecture phase: 12 and Field Assignment (Outreach): 8-12.

Purpose and Outcomes of DTS

To GATHER and CHALLENGE people to worship, listen to and obey God, releasing them (in the context of the DTS) to serve through evangelism, intercession, acts of compassion and other expressions of God's heart for the world, possibly even pioneering new ministries.

To INSPIRE and CULTIVATE growth in one's relationship with God resulting in Christ like character, which is based on a solid Biblical foundation, the work of the Holy Spirit and the personal application of Biblical truth, especially concerning God's Character, the Cross and empowering Grace.

To SHARPEN one's ability to relate to, learn from and work with people, including those of different cultures, personalities and perspectives.

To further EQUIP each one to serve God's purposes either in or outside of YWAM Family of Ministries, strengthening a commitment to reach the lost, especially the unreached, to care for the poor, and to influence all areas of society.

To IMPART the vision and foundational values of Youth With A Mission International as well as that of the host operating location and to provide information regarding a variety of opportunities for service.
